The Hinckley Times

I started this blog in 2011, and instead of trying to tell people how to do stuff, I tried to concentrate on the funny things that happened in the garden.

You know… the stuff that died, the crops that got eaten… the continual battle with the British weather…

I tried to find the humourous side to gardening, and feeling brave one day, I approached my local newspaper. The conversation went a bit like this:

Me: I write a blog, which I find quite funny. Do you?

Editor: Yes… make the stories a bit longer, and I could print it

Me: (whilst having a full on panic attack) Okey dokey

That was way back in 2012, and if I’m perfectly honest, I didn’t know if I’d be able to crack one out every week. But one way or another, every week it’s been, and the article is now in its second year.

Which I’m actually quite chuffed about…

The first published articleAll the articles from 2012, plus a few more tales from the plot are in my Kindle book:

50 Spades of Gardening
